The Center’s audition-based Pre-Professional Program prepares dedicated and passionate dancers age 9 and older for a career in the Dance Arts. Pre-professionals participate in a more structured training program and learn necessary skills that prepare them for entry into a professional dance company, including those operating out of The Center. All classes are conducted in accordance with the National Standards for Dance Education, used by higher universities throughout the nation, and provide the student with a comprehensive approach to the dance arts. Classes in the program are designed to train the Pre-Professional in areas of technique, artistic development, production, wellness/nutrition, career longevity and arts management.

In order to provide developmentally-appropriate instruction in the technical and artistic aspects of dance, classes in the Pre-Professional Program are defined according to five developmental stages beginning with ‘Pre-Professional’ and moving up to ‘Pre-Professional IV.’ Placement is by determination of the artistic director.

TRY IT! The Pre-Professional Experience: The Center offers an ongoing 2-week intensive for students wishing to try the Pre-Professional Program. Students taking the Pre-Professional Experience, follow the schedule outlined in the Pre-Professional Program for 2-weeks to see if the program is right for them. Students are NOT required to audition for entry into the Pre-Professonal Experience, but must be at least 9 years of age and have some dance training. Students wishing to formally enter the Program upon completion of the Experience will be accepted into the Program based on performance in the Experience and a final audition. Tuition: $100 for 2 consecutive weeks (8 class hours).
